Sleeping up to six, Eller How House is an unusual, romantic Regency Villa in the Lake District National Park. The large south wing has three double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, a large farmhouse kitchen and a superb first floor sitting room. The house is suitable for families, extended families and groups of friends and provides an excellent base from which to explore the Lake district and to enjoy a relaxing 'get-away from it all' holiday. Set in 12 acres of private picturesque, landscape, there is a small lake, woodland walks and more formal gardens. Winding walks through the estate take in a ruined folly, gazebo and views to the sea and fells. There is plenty of space inside and out for families and friends to enjoy throughout year.
Eller How House was architect designed by George Webster 1827 as his own family home and has many unusual features, from the ornate plasterwork in the sitting room to the collection of 'heads' holding up the cieling in the 'quinquangular'master bedroom. It is set in it's own beautiful private wooded valley, landscaped at the time to take in views across the bay with direct access onto the fellside where you can climb Dixon Heights to the ruined tower and have a panoramic vista to the higher Lake District fells and the Irish sea.
Eller How House is in an ideal position for exploring the Lake District; about fifteen minutes scenic drive from Bowness and twenty from Coniston. Many guests come to enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the house and woods, eating out at the local pubs and restaurants, sitting on the terrace or in front of the fire and enjoying the high quality local produce.
In the holiday season we have week-long bookings starting on a Friday or Saturday and at other times of year we offer a long Week-end or Mid-Week break. Enjoy the day walking or sightseeing and return to a campfire in the woods or a meal on the sunny terrace in front of the house or if it is cool then an evening in front of the log fire in the comfortable sitting room.
We are on hand to greet guests on arrival and to make sure that you have everything you need. We are next door and can assist with advice on what to see, where to go or just for a chat. We respect our guests privacy and the house is completely self contained.
